I renew my plenty websites with nothing less than 60k for domain and hosting every year because these websites are my office. They make money for me.
I stopped using whogohost for my Web design services because of their poor service, even though they are cheaper. I only have one personal and client website on whogohost.
The rest are on dotifi.com or swordpress due to their efficiency.
I stopped worrying about website speed the day I switched to foreign hosts.
So for someone to be insulting me because she was asked to pay 55k for her domain renewal and hosting is sickening.
55k as rent to keep your “online office” active is what you are crying about.
Anyway, I am doing something across all my businesses…

If you find it difficult to pay processing fee of 20k to get a driver from us, you will struggle to pay salary regularly.
If you complain that 150k is too small to get you a website, you will struggle to renew it with 50k
Every business must have a target audience. If you can’t afford a service, please don’t waste their time.
Years ago, I walked into a dental clinic to have my teeth checked. I was asked to pay N30k consultation fee before I could see a doctor. I para!! 30k for what?! When I have not even known what is wrong with me.
I eventually was allowed in to see the doctor. I was still fuming. Then I heard the doctor’s explanation that humbled me, “if a patient can’t pay 30k consultation fee, how can he pay for the treatment”
Some pricing mechanism of businesses are used to screen the serious clients from unserious ones.
I have website clients who keep me on high maintenance fee to manage their websites. They pay for their renewal ahead of time without bothering the cost.
I think it’s time to screen people that patronise our businesses.

I paid 70k naira equivalent to renew barristers.ng website this morning. Do you know how much that website makes for me in a month? It’s a money printing machine. I can’t allow it go down because of 70k.
And as an afterthought, its not the fault of the website designer if you refused to use your website to make money within a year.
As a marketer, I make sure I build websites with all the trending marketing practices in place such as SEO, loading speed, user friendly interface, etc.
If after doing all these, you are clueless on how to use your website to make money, don’t blame the designer. This is why some people find it difficult to renew their websites because they feel they didn’t really use it well.
That’s no fault of the designer…
All my personal websites are making me money, so I gladly renew them no matter the dollar exchange rate.
