Former Presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has kicked against the appointment of only 2 Northerners to assume the position of chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC since its inception. In a post shared on X, Bashir argued that out of the 12 INEC chairman that have have been appointed, 10 are from the South East and South South while only two are from the North., He argued that this stark imbalance” should raise questions about equitable representation in one of Nigerias most critical democratic institutions.
