Applications are now open for the 2026 Florence Bamidele Makanjuola (FBM) Scholarship. For Female Nigerian Students (STEM, Teaching & Nursing)

The Florence Bamidele Makanjuola (FBM) Scholarship, powered by the Opekete Foundation, is now open for 2026 applications.

This program is designed to support young Nigerian women pursuing careers in STEM, Teaching, and Nursing, helping them access quality  education and build impactful careers.

About the Scholarship

The Opekete Foundation, founded in memory of Mrs. Florence Bamidele Makanjuola (1921–2021), is committed to empowering women through education and healthcare.

The FBM Scholarship provides financial support to female students, equipping them with the resources needed to succeed academically and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Scholarship Value

  • ₦350,000 per year (Secondary School Students)
  • ₦650,000 per year (University Undergraduates)

Applicants must:

  • Be a female Nigerian citizen
  • Have gained admission or currently be enrolled in a public university or Senior Secondary School
  • Be attending or planning to attend a public or federal government-owned institution
  • Be willing to study Teaching, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), or Nursing

Academic Requirements

Secondary School Applicants

  • Minimum of 5 distinctions (A or B) in:
    • English
    • Mathematics
    • Any other 3 core subjects (Junior WAEC)

University Applicants

  • Minimum of 5 distinctions (A1–B3) in:
    • English
    • Mathematics
    • Any other 3 relevant subjects (WAEC/NECO, one sitting)
  • Must meet JAMB cut-off for chosen course and institution
